In which cases am I not entitled to reimbursement or compensation?
This right ceases when the airline proves that the cancellation/delay beyond 3 hours of the flight is caused by exceptional circumstances (adverse weather conditions, security alerts, strikes, etc.); this right also ceases if the passenger has been informed of the flight cancellation:
- With at least two weeks of notice;
- In the period between two weeks and seven days prior to the departure date and in the event that an alternative flight is offered with departure no more than two hours before the originally scheduled time and with arrival at the final destination no more than four hours after the originally scheduled time;
- Less than seven days before e if an alternative flight is offered with departure no more than one hour before the original time scheduled and with arrival at the final destination no later than two hours after the originally scheduled time.
It is important to emphasise that the payment of compensation does not prevent passengers from making a claim for reimbursement of the additional, subjective damage suffered as a result of the inefficiency.
How much reimbursement or flight compensation is foreseen?
The amount of reimbursement varies depending on the route and is between 250 and 600 Euro (right to monetary compensation):
- 250€ for air routes of 1500 km or less
- 400€ for distances between 1500 and 3500 km
- 600€ for sections exceeding 3500 km
- 300€ for routes longer than 3500 km with a delay of more than 3 hours but less than 4 hours
What happens if I am not entitled to compensation?
